Overview
Restored 1842 passenger station on the original route of the Stockton and Darlington Railway (the world's 1st steam-worked public railway). The museum exhibits relate to railways in the North East of England and include Stephenson's Locomotion of 1825. The former goods shed is now a restoration workshop and a short length of track is available for steam locomotive operation on selected dates. The former carriage works building has been refurbished for use by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.
