Centre Square
Centre Square is a new modernised public Square in the heart of Middlesbrough. Centre Square is home to mima - Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and a BBC Big Screen. It is also a prime spot for events such as Middlesbrough Music Live and seasonal events/activities. It is very popular all year round and is a perfect spot in the summer to bring a blanket and have a picnic watching the world go by.
Stewart Park
Stewart Park covers approx. 120 acres with large areas of open space, lakes and woodland. An extensive pets corner houses many types of deer, highland cattle, llamas, goats, peacocks, pheasants, rabbits and guinea pigs. Facilities include the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum and cafe, picnic areas, lakes and ponds and discovery wood.
Pallister Park
Pallister Park covers approx. 30 acres of open parkland. The site is a great spot for having a picnic and also offers an impressive range of facilities including play areas, floodlit five-a-side, basketball and tennis courts, bowling greens and a park visitor centre.
Fairy Dell Park
Informal park which is well landscaped with woods, lakes, bridges and picnic areas. Good access from nearby Newham Grange Leisure Farm.
Albert Park
A multi-million pound refurbishment programme has completely transformed the facilities with the park, which covers approx. 72 acres. It is a beautiful space for a picnic. Take your own blanket and a picnic basket and set up in the tranquil acres of Albert Park.
Hemlington Lake
Hemlington Lake and Recreation Centre offers a wide range of activity sessions including canoeing, angling, football, youth club, gymnastics, aerobics and fitness sessions. The site is very popular for Children's parties and lake side is an ideal spot for a picnic, which is host to a wide variety of wildlife, including kingfishers, mute swans, tufted and ruddy ducks and many seasonal visitors as well as a triving population of watervoles, Britain's fastest declining mammal.
