Overview

Saltholme will be a fantastic new wildlife experience for the north of England and is currently being created in the Tees Valley.

The RSPB and the Teesside Environmental Trust are working together to transform 1,000 acres (380 ha) of former industrial land in north-east England into a world-class nature reserve.

Much work remains to be done at Saltholme before we can welcome our first visitors in 2008. We want Saltholme to be a place that the north-east of England can be proud of and one that is popular with local people and tourists alike. Creating a nature reserve of this scale and ambition is a massive and complex project and there are sure to be many highs and lows along the way.

You can find out more about this exciting project on these pages and don't forget to visit the Saltholme blog for regular progress reports from the project team.
