The Official Visitor Information Website for Tees Valley
Run by the Friends of Winkies Castle, a warm and friendly welcome awaits all who visit the Borough newest museum. Opened in August 2005, Winkies Castle, is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Marske. This cruck cottage and its amazing and varied contents was bequeathed to the local authority by local cobbler, Jack Anderson.
Named after Jacks beloved cat, Winkie, you can see a two headed lamb, unique hands on artefacts, the netty and out buildings in the back yard and so much more all housed in this charming little cottage. Sit by the open fire and enjoy a chat with the knowledgeable volunteers who will be happy to answer your questions on the area and it heritage.
VAQAS accreditation.
