Situated between North Yorkshire and County Durham, Tees Valley is an area of contrast and diversity. With a proud heritage, breathtaking countryside and over 30 miles of spectacular Heritage Coastline, Tees Valley is at the heart of Captain Cook Country with superb access to the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
Tees Valley encompasses the five historic boroughs of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Redcar & Cleveland. Although each has its own distinctive character, there are common qualities which characterise all of them; continued development and regeneration, rich heritage and friendly people. Maritime and Industrial Heritage sit hand in hand with exciting urban towns, yet also the unspoilt splendour of the coastline and countryside.
Steeped in history, the famous maritime explorer Captain James Cook was born in Middlesbrough, Thomas Sheraton, the famous furniture designer was born in Stockton, the first passenger railway opened in Stockton in 1825 and Middlesbrough was world famous for its iron production in the nineteenth century.
The quality of life is superb with excellent infrastructure and every imaginable leisure and entertainment facility. The roads are uncongested and access is excellent, fly into Durham Tees Valley Airport, sail into one of the ports or harbours on the East Coast or use the excellent rail links which travel to London in less then 2 ½ hours.
