Towering cliff faces and rolling countryside...

Tees Valley's landscape is an area of contrast and diversity, including breathtaking countryside and over 30 miles of spectacular Heritage Coastline, at the heart of Captain Cook Country with superb access to the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.

VisitTeesValleyTees Valley's Heritage Coastline stretches from the coast of Hartlepool, to the fishing village of Staithes, and travels round to North Yorkshire. Along the coast are the popular seaside resorts of Redcar, Marske, Saltburn and Seaton Carew all with their own distinct character and charm. Further inland is the quaint historic market town of Guisborough and the traditional country villages of Great Ayton and Stokesley, all a 'stone's throw' away from the North York Moors National Park.

Follow the footsteps of the world-famous naval explorer Captain James Cook, who was born in Middlesbrough and spent his childhood in Great Ayton, learn about his apprenticeship in Staithes, before setting sail on his travels for Whitby. Or climb to the top of Roseberry Topping - a breathtaking hill on the Cleveland Hills - for a fabulous panoramic view of the Tees Valley and the North York Moors. Stroll along a world-class marina at Hartepool or simply marvel at windswept moors, rugged beaches and crashing waves.
