Zap - Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council

Location: Saltburn
Sunday 27th June

Zap at Saltburn is a family event involving orienteering activities and fun stalls.

Volunteers who are scheduled to work would offerall-round general assistance. Tasks would include marshalling, assisting families with young children and generally promoting this event and the activities that go with it.

Expenses and training will be given, all welcome to apply.

Middlesbrough Mela - Middlesbrough Council

Location: Middlesbrough
Saturday & Sunday 17th & 18th July

Middlesbrough Mega MELA Weekend is one of the biggest and most spectacular multi-cultural celebrations in the North East. With an exciting programme of music, arts, sports, food and craft stalls, fair and children's entertainment.  Middlesbrough's Mega Mela! Weekend, is a two day event.

Volunteers will be needed to do the following roles:

Pre Event Assistants x 2: General admin duties to include laminating, photocopying, check lists, event box completion, charging radios, preparing security passes, running, telephone calls, info point information collation for public and volunteers.  Volunteers would be required to work the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday prior to the event.

Main Stage Runners x 2: Running of specific stage throughout the day including acting as runner for stage.

Information Point Assistant x 3:Person the information tent giving general information to the public and dealing with queries.

Global Village Stage Managers x4:Stage manage marquees, clearing up duties in Big Lunch marquee.

Runners x 9:General running throughout the day working on a variety of different areas and projects.

Stalls Assistants x 4:Assisting in placing stall holders. Volunteers for this role will be required to work long hours from 7am until 8pm, with the possibility of working Friday afternoon.

Oddsocks Theatre - Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council

Location: Redcar
Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd July

Every year Oddsocksdelight audiences with their inspired approach to Shakespeare’s plays and their trademark interactive style. “A Midsummer Nights Dream” with its easy-to-follow storyline and hilarious characters is perfect for the Oddsocks treatment and will be a memorable production.

This year Oddsocks are returning to Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar and are needing 4 volunteers to help front of house. Volunteers would be needed from 6pm until 10:30pm.

Jammin' the Streets - Stockton Borough Council

Location: Stockton
25th July 2010

Jammin’ the Streets will be an exhilarating, entertaining and informative opportunity to experience performances, demonstrations and workshops in extreme sports and related artistic activities.  The event will include some of the top UK and international individuals associated with stakeboarding, BMX biking, parkour, martial arts and hip-hop dancing.  The day will climax with an international under 18 Bboy competition.

Jammin’ the Streets takes place on Sunday 25 July, 12.00pm – 6.00pm. We are looking for 10 – 20 volunteers to assist during the event from 11.00am – 6.30pm (times to be confirmed).  Volunteers will be involved in a stewarding capacity.

Stockton Community Carnival - Stockton Borough Council

Location: Stockton
Saturday 31st July 2010

Stockton Community Carnival is part of Stockton International Riverside Festival.  It is Stockton’s largest community celebration with over 1000 people taking part every year of all ages.  The parade involves school, youth and community groups coming together after weeks of preparation in either costume-making, music or dance.  As well as stunning costumes, the carnival is filled with some spectacular giant structures and an amazing carnival atmosphere!  We will be ending the parade with a fantastic finale performance in Trinity Green.

The carnival takes place on Saturday 31st July at 12noon.  We are looking for 20-30 volunteers to assist during the event from 10.00am – 2.30pm.  Volunteers will be responsible for meeting community groups and stewarding the parade and finale performance.Full expenses and training will be given, all welcome to apply.

Creative Family Days @ Dorman Museum

Location: Middlesbrough

The Dorman Museum regularly holds family workshops and drop-in art sessions. The museum is looking for 2 volunteer Creative Assistants to help with setting up the activities, giving out materials and helping clean up afterwards.  Children have to be accompanied by an adult so no CRBs required but it would suit anyone who likes working with young children and is creative.
