Infinity Light Parade - Stockton

Stockton Borough Council’s Arts Development team is holding an event to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the Infinity Bridge in Stockton.  The event will involve a magical lantern parade involving hundreds of local people from schools and community groups.

The parade will take place from Princess of Wales Bridge and end at the award-winning Infinity Bridge, where there will be a wonderful light installation. The event will take place during May Bank Holiday on Sunday 2nd May.  The parade will begin at 8.30pm.

We are looking for 10 – 15 volunteers to assist during the event from 7.00pm – 10.00pm.  Volunteers will be responsible for meeting community participants and stewarding the parade. Full expenses and training will be given, all welcome to apply.

Healthy Towns 5k - Middlesbrough

Runners of all ages and abilities will be able to take part in the 5k Road Race starting and finishing at the Town Hall and taking in key Middlesbrough landmarks including the Transporter Bridge. Last year the event saw over 1,000 running the 5k course with a further 500 taking part in the Fun Run.

Organisers are looking for volunteers to marshal the event. Volunteers will need to be available from 8.00am until approximately 1.00pm on Sunday 16th May. Full expenses and training will be given, all welcome to apply.

Worldfest - Middlesbrough/Stockton

WorldFest is an annual festival, celebrating diversity in the Tees Valley and showcases world class talent, taking place on Friday 21st and Saturday 29th May.

The activities which volunteers will help with fall into two main parts:

  • Distributing leaflets, posters and flyers around Tees Valley throughout May in the lead up to the festival
  • Helping at events making sure performers are where they need to be and when, have their meals or drinks etc.

Volunteers need to be reliable, sensible, good with people, not easily flustered and interested in the world of music, especially music of non-mainstream origin. Please send in a brief CV and a statement of the reasons this volunteering opportunity appeals to you, and outline any relevant experience you have had. Kiteival - Redcar

The Best in Britain in the world’s fastest growing water sport will be flocking to Redcar beach between 21st and 23rd May.

Redcar has scooped the chance to host the British Kite Surfing Championship.The event will see the best men and women competing to win the UK title in 3 different kite sports, namely Kite Landboarding, Kite Buggying and Kite Surfing. Redcar Kiteival will feature the UK’s top professionals battling it out on Redcar beachfront for all to see.

The event aims to put Redcar beachfront firmly on the kite surfing map, inspire a whole new generation of water sports enthusiasts and provide spectacular entertainment for residents and visitors alike.  Organisers are looking for volunteers to marshal the event. Full expenses and training will be given, all welcome to apply.

Teesside Goes Global - Middlesbrough

Fancy a good night out and support a charity at the same time? Lead Volunteesvalley volunteers Liz Hall, Jenny Lofts and Donna Hatton as part of their course with Retrain Travel and Tourism Level 3 have been involved in creating a music and dance event with performers from around the world, from reggae to rappers. Including finger food from around the world!
