Dean Chapman: Burma, Darkness in the Golden Land

Add Dean Chapman: Burma, Darkness in the Golden Land to your Itinerary

Burma, historically admired as ‘the Golden Land,’ is now a nation in despair. Successive military dictatorships have used, abused and killed its citizens, mismanaged the economy, and shown ignorant disregard for the environment. Human rights abuses of the pro-democracy opposition, minority ethnic peoples, and Burma's revered Buddhist monks are an everyday occurrence.

Photographed since 1990, DEAN CHAPMAN has repeatedly travelled to
Burma seeking to document the plight of the peoples of Burma, and the challenging issues they face and their determined humanity amidst such sinister darkness.
