Eaglescliffe

Eaglescliffe village, across the River Tees from Yarm, surrounds the older Egglescliffe. It expanded in the 19th century and local tradition suggests that its name developed from a miss spelling of a local railway sign. Eaglescliffe and Egglescliffe villages together have a population of around 8000.
