Discover Captain James Cook from his early days in Marton, Great Ayton, Staithes and Whirby to his great voyages around the world.
Cook's only visit to mainland Australia, 240 years ago during his first great voyage (1768-71), brought him into contact with aboriginal people in what are now the Botany Bay and Endeavour
River areas on Australia's east coast.
The exhibition will use aboriginal artefacts from the Museums Service's own collection to tell the story of Cook's visit and the brief glimpse he had of the lives of the indigenous people 'Down Under'.
