The Official Visitor Information Website for Tees Valley
Without doubt one of North Yorkshire's finest hotels Rushpool Hall is an outstanding example of Victorian architecture and design. Rushpool Hall was built for John Bell, one of the founding fathers of what is now Tees Valley. The hall is utterly unique in its construction. The approach to the house itself with its fully restored entrance recalls the heyday of the country house parties so beloved of pre-war novelists and playwrights. Visitors included Winston Churchill, who regularly attended Northern Command meetings and Lawrence of Arabia who was a friend of John Bell's great niece, Gertrude Bell. The hotel is situated within 90 acres of ancient woodland. The flowing river, abundant wildlife and birds all attribute to the beauty and tranquillity of the grounds. There are two lakes and a natural pond to provide habitat for many visiting birds. The lake at the front of the hotel was actually emptied by firemen in the famous fire of 1904.
Rushpool Hall is every couples dream wedding venue. Say 'I do' in Victorian splendour. "Rushpool Hall situated amid delightful scenery in Riftswood, Saltburn and which could lay claim to be one of the most picturesque mansions in the North of England" quote from North Eastern Gazette, 22nd February 1904.
